This letter, believed to be written in Minobu during the first year of Kōan (1278), discusses Shijō Kingo’s desire to abandon the secular world due to difficulties with his lord and fellow warriors. Nichiren Daishonin advises him to view his service as the practice of the Lotus Sutra, equating it to a modern-day job.

Regard your service to your lord as the practice of the Lotus Sutra. This is what is meant by “No worldly affairs of life or work are ever contrary to the true reality.”
